BREAKING LUCK is a financial social service community action organization. Our mission is to bring financial literacy education to the public. We specifically target people with no, low or fixed incomes. But we don't stop there!

Providing information and facts about personal finance issues is important, but it does not do the whole job. In order to gain a comprehensive measure of our finances, we need more information.

To do this, we explore issues such as where a person learned about money and from whom. We discuss how their families dealt with money while they were young, and how that may have influenced their beliefs. Our beliefs and our knowledge are what dictates our behavior.

Learning how and why we spend the way we do lays the groundwork for better decision manking and changing behaviors.

Just like all of the relationships in our lives, your relationship with money is important and must be given attention. Just think about the people in your life and what happens when you don't give them attention. They feel left out and angry. They want to be recognized and acknowledged. If you don't give them any attention, you will probably have some explaining and apologizing to do or risk losing your friend! Likewise, if you fail to give attention to your money, it too will think you don't care and will do something that will ultimately get your attention. Money is a jealous friend, and if it has to do something to get your attention, the 'something' probably won't be good!

Watch our founder, Susan Miele describe the mission of Breaking Luck when she appeared on Nashua Access Gate City Chronicles with host Kevin Avard.
